Student of the Month Story
Garett Henderson accepted the Student of the Month award on March 1, 2020 at James Bowie High School for the month of February 2020.
Garett is a straight A student and is on both the varsity football and varsity baseball teams, he also finds time to work 20 hours a week at HEB and attends photography and golf club.
"I love to stay busy," said Garett "I don't like sitting around and doing nothing."
Bowie High Schools principle Mr. Robinson presented the award to Garret with a giant smile on his face on March 1st.
"He is a great kid and has so many accomplishments," Robinson said "he deserves this award more than any of the other contesters."
He always was their to help a fellow classmate who didn't understand an assignment or a concept and was almost always able to explain it to them.
"I saw Garett mostly doing just small things that added up, things like helping other kids understand how to do an assignment, and he was always really good at explaining." said Ms. Hall.
Garett has a 4.7 GPA and has gotten and continues to withhold his GPA by taking all AP classes and then takes weighted and advanced elective classes.
"He is enrolled in all AP classes and has high 90's in all of them, I do not know how he manages it." said Ms. Hall.
Garett has applied to go to Yale where he will study Bio Med and then go into medical school. His main goal is to be accepted into a surgical residency program.
"He has just always enjoyed helping people when they were hurt or didn't feel well." his mom told us.
He has always been supported through all of his endeavors, when he needed a ride his mother gave it to him.
